Marriage Licenses

TO APPLY FOR AN INTENTION TO MARRY

The Office of the Town Clerk takes in Intentions by appointment only!

Massachusetts marriage license intention needs to be filled out by both parties. You must be together in front of the Town Clerk's Staff when you fill them out.  The paperwork usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.  We do not take in intentions after 3:30 PM.  These forms are not available online.  There is a 3-day waiting period in Massachusetts. The cost of the marriage license is $25.00.  

The only identification that you need to bring is your driver's license or some other form of photo identification.   The marriage license is good for 60 days. Any further questions, please call the Town Clerk's office 978-658-2030.

Once the marriage certificate is returned by the officiant, the Town Clerk's Office will send you a certified copy.

If you are having a friend or family member act as the officiant they need a One Day Solmnizer Certificate.  A certificate from the Governor's office needs to be in place at the time of the marriage.  The process takes 4-6 weeks. The cost is $25.00.  You may obtain the application online through Mass.gov.
