Closure of all Town parks and recreation areas

Update: As previously noted all Town recreation areas will be closed to the public until further notice.  Since some venues but not all venues were referenced in the previous public notice and with the intention of being a clear as possible, the public is advised that this closure also applies to the pickle ball courts, the skate park, Town beach and adjoining areas, walking trails and Town Forest.  This closure applies to all Town owned property intended  for the purpose of passive or active recreation.  Once again, thank you for your cooperation.

Effective immediately all Town recreation areas including parks, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields and the dog park will be closed.

As would be expected families are taking advantage of the warmer temperatures by getting outside and in many cases making use of the Town’s parks, playgrounds and outdoor recreation areas.  A critical measure in the effort to stem the spread of COVID-19 is limiting social gatherings.  Governor Baker has issued a directive limiting gatherings to 25 or less while President Trump has recommended that gatherings be limited to not more than 10 individuals.  In light of the Governor’s directive and the President’s recommendation and based upon recent observations of gatherings at several of the parks this step is being taken.  The Town recognizes that this measure is inconvenient to families and appreciates your patience and cooperation.  This closure order will remain in effect until further notice.
