Important RMV Announcement – NO RMV System Access March 23-25

The following is an important announcement from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles:

RMV Services & System Access Unavailable from 7 p.m. on March 22 until 8 a.m. on March 26

The Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has announced that all RMV services and system access, with the exception of law enforcement, will be unavailable from 7 p.m., Thursday, March 22 until 8 a.m., Monday, March 26 due to the RMV changing over to a new computer system that will allow the RMV to comply with federal and state mandates.

During this time period, there will be no motor vehicle inspections available in the state, no RMV online services, all RMV service locations will be closed, and AAA locations will be unable to process RMV services for AAA members.

We appreciate your understanding and patience about the temporary shutdown of RMV services which is necessary as the RMV changes to new technology.

ATLAS will replace the RMV’s Automated Licensing and Registration System (ALARS), which is more than 30 years old, to allow the RMV to become a more customer-centric organization and to comply with federal and state mandates.

ATLAS will be released in two phases. Release 1, on March 26, 2018, is replacing driver services and Release 2, in the fall of 2019, will replace vehicle services.

We are making a major investment in a new technology system to deliver exceptional customer service for residents and businesses across the Commonwealth.

Have Questions?
