Phase 2 Reopening of Wilmington Recreation Areas

Governor Baker has moved the State of Massachusetts to Phase 2 of reopening. 

The following recreational facilities in Wilmington will now be open, some with additional restrictions:

Playgrounds – all playgrounds, including the Yentile Park playground, will be open. Per order of the Governor, face coverings or masks must be worn (for over age 2) when individuals cannot maintain 6 feet of distance between themselves and others.  Persons using outdoor recreational facilities must maintain 6 feet from all other persons.

Fields – all school and town fields, including the Yentile Park turf field, will be open, and permitted groups can begin using fields, with restrictions. Groups of no more than 10 participants, including coaches or staff are allowed

Contact sports (baseball, football, soccer, lacrosse, etc.) must limit activities to no-contact drills and practices – games, scrimmages or tournaments are not allowed

Courts – all courts will be open

Tennis and Pickleball courts – Games are permitted, no one is allowed on courts if they are not playing, the Town Hall Pickleball court is for Wilmington Residents only at this time

Basketball courts – including Yentile the WHS courts - Groups of no more than 10 participants per court, including coaches or staff are allowed, must limit activities to no-contact drills and practices – games, scrimmages or tournaments are not allowed

Skate Park – will be open with social distancing required

Town Beach – will remain closed

Please note – the restrooms at Yentile Park, the Shawsheen School fields and the Glen Road fields will not be open during this Phase.  The risk of virus contraction is too high in these facilities.
