Curbside Recycling

For Residents with Municipal Trash Collection

Thanks to your effort and cooperation, participation in Wilmington’s curbside recycling program has been excellent!

It's EASY being green!!

Collection Schedule: Recycling barrels are collected every other week on your regular trash collection day. Set barrels out by 6:30 AM. Barrels containing improper materials will be left behind.

Holiday Collection Schedule: Whenever a scheduled collection day falls on a holiday, that day’s collection and all remaining collections for the week will be delayed one day. Friday’s collection will be on Saturday.

Paper

(Paper and Containers may be mixed together)

 

  • Newspaper/inserts, paper bags.
  •  Magazines, catalogs, junk mail
  • Paperboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, pizza boxes, etc.).
  • Corrugated cardboard – broken down to fit in recycle barrel.
  • White or colored computer paper.
  • NO soda holders, styrofoam egg cartons or soiled paper.
  • NO waxed paper or waxed cardboard or plastic bags.
  • NO Styrofoam, foam packing material.
  • NO SHREDDED PAPER - PLEASE DISPOSE OF IN THE TRASH

Containers

(Paper and Containers may be mixed together)

  • Glass bottles/jars, all colors and sizes.
  • Aluminum, tin/steel cans and lids, deposit and non-deposit beverage cans.
  • All plastic bottles, jugs, tubs & lids, except motor oil or chemical containers.
  • NO paint or aerosol cans or other metal items.
  • NO plastic bags.
  • NO broken or other glass such as light bulbs, window or auto glass, dishes, glasses, Pyrex or flower pots.
White Goods

 

  • Major appliances are usually collected on Mondays. Residents must purchase a $10 sticker from the Collector's Office at Town Hall before 11:00am on Thursday to be placed on the pick-up list for the next pickup.
  • Remove doors.
  • DO NOT remove freon.
CRT'sTV’s and computer monitors are usually collected on Mondays.  Residents must purchase a $10 sticker from the Collector's Office at Town Hall before 11:00am on Thursday to be placed on the pick-up list for the next  pickup.

Hazardous Waste

Call DPW at 978-658-4481 for collection information (usually held in early May)

Motor Oil

Residential waste oil (5 gallons or less) can be dropped off at the DPW Garage at 135 Andover Street Monday – Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Be sure to sign in at the administration office first at 115 Andover Street.
