REMINDER TO WILMINGTON CUSTOMERS AND CONTRACTORS:

It is ILLEGAL to use town owned fire hydrants without prior coordination through the Water Department.

THE TOWN OF WILMINGTON DOES HAVE ACTIVE WATER RESTRICTIONS.

Description

The town of Wilmington's water system consists of 4 groundwater wells, multiple pumping stations, two water treatment plants, 3 storage tanks, 1200 fire hydrants and approximately 126 miles of water main. The town also maintains interconnections with bordering towns and the MWRA. Serving approximately 99 percent of Wilmington residents, Wilmington's average demand is about 2 million gallons per day.

Wilmington's sewer system was originally established in the 1950s. The system includes approximately 20 miles of main pipe, 8 pump stations, 1542 services and a septage receiving facility.
