Annual Town Meeting - This Saturday 9 AM

Dear Residents, 

We're reaching out to the community to remind everyone of our Annual Town Meeting taking place this Saturday, April 30th at 9 AM in the Joanne M. Benton Wilmington High School Auditorium. 

Registered voters who participate in Town Meeting serve as the legislative branch of our town government and will have an opportunity to vote on the annual budget for all town departments for the 12 month fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022. 

Each year we reach this critical juncture where it's up to you, the residents, to to vote on expenditures, proposed changes to the town’s local laws (referred to as “inhabitant bylaws”) and proposed changes to land use (referred to as “zoning bylaws”). The agenda of topics is contained in a document called the “warrant” which has been approved by the Board of Selectmen. The individual topics contained on the warrant are called “articles.” Each household is mailed a copy of a booklet entitled “Recommendations of the Finance Committee and Planning Board Relative to the Warrant Articles" which contains each article to be addressed at Annual Town Meeting. We recommend visiting our Town Meeting webpage prior to Town Meeting to acquaint yourself with the articles to be voted on, this year's recommendations, information from the Town Moderator and other resources for this Saturday.

Our Town Clerk department and meeting volunteers will be ready to begin checking registered voters* at 8:00 AM when the doors open. Please note that if your voter registration is inactive, you will need to bring proof of residency to vote at the Meeting. A license or utility bill will do. The meeting is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM but we cannot begin until we've reached a quorum of 150 voters. We hope to see you on Saturday!
