Closure of North Wilmington Commuter Rail Station - Sept 9 - Nov 5

Good morning residents and community members,

Please be advised the North Wilmington Commuter Rail Station will be closed and service, temporarily suspended, for a 58-day period from September 9th to November 5th, 2023. This shutdown will allow for the installation of the Automatic Train Control (ATC), a component of the larger Positive Train Control (PTC) signaling system, mandated by the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008. This system upgrade improves both safety and service liability.

It is recommended that impacted riders board and use Wilmington's Main Street Commuter Rail Station during the closure.

Additional details may be gathered from MBTA's resources: August 10 press release and the Project website
