MBTA Community - Section 3A Multi-Family Zoning Survey for the Town of Wilmington

Resident input needed before September 4th

Wilmington Section 3A Multi-Family Zoning Survey

WILMINGTON, MA – The Town of Wilmington is asking for resident input on the creation of new zoning to meet the requirements for MBTA Communities, Section 3A of the Zoning Act.

The new law requires MBTA Communities to have an as-of-right multi-family housing district in proximity to transit. The Town of Wilmington is required to create an as-of-right multi-family housing zoning district of at least fifty (50) acres that would allow for the possibility of at least 1,248 housing units in the future. Half of the district must be within a half mile of a commuter rail station.

Survey feedback is critical as the new zoning must be approved by Town Meeting in 2024 to satisfy the new law. Please take a few minutes to provide your input: www.surveymonkey.com/r/WilmingtonSection3A

Paper copies of the survey are available at the Wilmington Memorial Library, the Buzzell Senior Center, Town Clerks’s Office, and upon request. The survey will run through Labor Day, September 4, 2023.
