Update from Dr. Brand regarding the Wildwood School Building project

Dear Members of the Wilmington Community,

It is my pleasure to share with you the following information regarding an important opportunity before the community of Wilmington regarding our partnership in the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) grant program for the Wildwood Early Childhood Center.

As many are likely aware, the Wildwood is the community's oldest school built some 66 years ago and largely remains in the original condition as it was built both inside and out. While it has served the community well for many years, it is worn, tired and no longer provides the type of educational space appropriate for the students and staff it serves. The Town's invitation into the MSBA program provides an opportunity for Wilmington to explore viable options to renovate or replace the Wildwood.

This email formally launches our efforts to raise awareness and inform the community about this very important opportunity.

In addition to this email, please note the following:

  • Wildwood Building Project Website - WPS has established a permanent website page where we have begun to compile relevant information about the project.

Please visit https://www.wpsk12.com/cms/one.aspx?pageId=48835006 to find more information about MSBA and background information about our school facilities, including a more extensive description of the project in a full-color booklet brochure.

  • Open House Tours - plans are underway to provide opportunities for members of the community to walk-through the school in-person to see the facilities. The first opportunity is planned for Tuesday, January 11 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Any member of the community is welcome to drop in and take a quick tour.
  • Informational Mini-Brochure - embedded here is the first of a series of brief brochures  that have been developed to provide quick and straightforward project information for our community (additional mini-brochures will follow in coming weeks).

Sincerely,

Glenn Brand, Ed.D.
