Woburn Street Bridge Preservation Project - Schedule Update
Notification of Upcoming Construction - Woburn Street Bridge Preservation Project
Please be advised that the Town of Wilmington received notification from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) that the preservation of the Woburn Street Bridge over I-93 is scheduled to begin in May 2024 – beginning with temporary traffic pole/signal installation on May 6th, and activation of temporary traffic signals expected in June. This project is being funded and managed by MassDOT and is expected to be a multi-year project including roadway/sidewalk improvements, bridge beam repair, bridge deck/abutment repairs, and temporary traffic control. MassDOT’s contractor, N.E.L. Corp., provided a preliminary schedule for the early stages of the project (see below). Please note that these dates and construction tasks are tentative and are subject to change as construction progresses:
May 6th - Temporary Traffic Pole/Signal Installation
June 2024 - Preservation Work Begins, Traffic Control Activation (Expect Minor Delays)
July 2024 - Under Bridge Beam Work
Residents will have access to their properties throughout construction, although there will be single lane closures & short delays to accommodate workers and public safety.
MassDOT will be holding bi-weekly meetings and providing a 3-week project lookahead. To keep the Public updated on any changes to the anticipated schedule and any future traffic impacts, The Town will be posting these lookaheads to the Department of Public Works
